Renovation

Edge Custom Spaces brings your renovation to life. We bring over 14 year’s experience in construction to your home renovation. Over this time, we’ve done countless renovations and have built many homes.  You may wonder “if Edge builds homes, can they do a renovation?” and if “Edge does renovations can they build homes?”  The short answer is yes! You can read about us and how we got to where we are today, but whether you’re replacing a kitchen or building an addition, the principles of construction remain the same.  Even a ‘small’ kitchen renovation will likely require some electrical work, plumbing, drywalling or framing, tiling, flooring, etc.  These are all the same elements that go into a custom built home.  The only difference between a custom build and a renovation is the starting point.

A home renovation can feel like a big undertaking, but we manage your project to minimize the disruption to your life, especially if you live in a condo or smaller space.  A renovation can add significantly to the value and enjoyment of your home, and we ensure that your project happens within the quoted timeframe.

Your renovation is only limited by your imagination and need.  Some of the types of renovations we’ve done are:

  • Kitchens
  • Condo kitchens
  • Bathroom remodels
  • Finished basements
  • Additions or extensions
  • Outdoor living spaces
  • Full floor renovations
  • Repair and reconstruction

The 3 Most Popular Renovations

Renovations are a great way to customize your space to get the function and comfort you desire from your home. The three most popular types of home renovations are:

1

Kitchen renovations

Kitchen renovations are the most popular, and condo kitchen renovations are becoming increasingly popular as condos start to age and clients look to upgrade their units to incorporate some of the latest trends in kitchen design. The kitchen is the focal point of many homes, particularly in condos, and a great kitchen can add to the overall value and appeal of any home on the market.
2

Bathroom renovations

Whether we admit it or not, the bathroom is a room we spend a lot of time in. Bathroom renovations are common for many reasons, but one key reason is that a well-designed bathroom can give you the feeling of being at a spa. We all start the day in the bathroom, and we want it to be a great experience.
3

Finished basements

Finishing a basement is a great way to add additional living space to your home without moving. Basement renovations vary widely based on the needs of the home owner. Adding a legal basement apartment is a great way to bring in revenue from space you may not be using. Your basement may be a place you want to transform to a home entertainment zone with a theatre, pool table or bar. Many of our clients do basement renovations for mixed use – they put in a bar for entertaining and also add a bedroom and bathroom for guests.

In addition to the most popular renovations we see, we also do a fair share of home additions and whole floor renovations. In many homes, when you decide on an open concept kitchen, it makes sense to update the rest of the floor at the same time.

A client asked us to renovate their basement and add a bar.  They provided us with the following two pictures for inspiration.

Inspiration

In this photo, our client liked the shape of the bar, but wanted it finished in walnut, and also wanted a sink.  They also wanted to re-create a fireplace behind the bar on the wall.

Inspiration

The inspiration in this photo is the long horizontal open shelves.  They also liked the marble look of the back wall and wanted to have that wall back lit.

Our client loves their new bar.  The finished bar is a perfect blend of the two inspiration photos they shared with us.  We added extra elements they wanted to include like back lit shelves for a dramatic effect, an upper shelf to display stemware and a sink and dishwaher.
